To help support individuals and families in need this holiday season, please consider participating in LHSC’s 2025 Holiday Food and Winter Clothing Drive, running from Monday, November 17 to Monday, December 15.
London’s Business Cares Food Drive
This year, we are proud to participate in London’s Business Cares Food Drive, a non-profit community initiative, which collects non-perishable food and monetary donations from more than 300 businesses across London and the surrounding area in support of the London Food Bank and related community programs.
The London Food Bank is currently helping more than 3,500 families or about 8,500 individuals each month. Additionally, the City of London reports that around 2,300 individuals are currently experiencing homelessness. With the generous support of Team LHSC, we can help community members who need it most.
Your donations can help
Please consider donating non-perishable food, diapers, hand warmers and/or winter clothing by dropping items off in our collection bins (locations listed below). When donating winter clothing, please ensure the items are clean, gently used (or new), and placed in bags before dropping them off.
Collection bin locations:
- Victoria Hospital and Children’s Hospital: B2 Atrium and E2 (outside Tim Hortons)
- University Hospital: Main floor lobby
The Portering team is also offering one-time food donation pickups from departments located at University Hospital and in main buildings at Victoria Hospital and Children’s Hospital. To arrange your department's one-time pickup, please contact Jennifer Fawcett at Jennifer.Fawcett@lhsc.on.ca or call extension 53519. Note: Please do not use linen carts to hold donations in individual departments, as we incur a charge for this. Clothing donations will need to be dropped off at one of the collection bins.
Are you wondering what items to donate?
Non-perishable food
The London Food Bank encourages donations of nutritious non-perishable food items as well as diapers for families with young children. These are some of the most needed items:
- Canned vegetables and fruit (no sugar added)
- Canned tomatoes (no salt added)
- Canned tuna and salmon
- Peanut butter
- Special-diet foods (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.)
- Dried vegetables (lentils, chickpeas, legumes, etc.)
- Healthy breakfast cereals
While they also accept perishable food, these items must be dropped off directly to one of their locations during operating hours. We are unable to accept these items on their behalf.
For those unable to contribute a non-perishable food item, please consider making a monetary donation directly to the London Food Bank by using this online donation form.
Winter clothing
Families and individuals in our community are also in need of warm winter clothing. Please consider donating the following items in adult or child sizes:
- Mittens/gloves
- Scarves
- Hats
- Coats
- Snowpants
- Winter boots
- Hand warmers
- Sweaters
- Socks
Collected items will be distributed to local agencies who support families and individuals experiencing financial hardship and homelessness.
Thank you for your support, Team LHSC. Together, we can make a difference for families and individuals facing hardship. Your contributions help provide nutritious food and warm winter clothing to those in need.
