At CSTAR, we provide you with support at every step of your educational event, from planning, to execution, and even post-event evaluation. Below are a few resources that you can use if you need assistance with performing a needs assessment, and determining SMART learning goals, to help you provide the most targeted education while you are at CSTAR.
Instructor development is one of the most crucial considerations for providing a meaningful learning experience for course attendees. In early 2019 we offered an Introduction to Simulation course for Clinical Educators at CSTAR with a focus on simulation design and delivery.
Beginning in the fall of 2019, we will offer Instructor Development courses for clinical and professional staff who run courses at CSTAR. These courses will cover all aspects of simulation including scenario design, pre-briefing, debriefing, and facilitating simulation. CanMEDS is a framework that identifies and describes the abilities physicians require to effectively meet the health care needs of the people they serve. A competent physician seamlessly integrates the competencies of all seven CanMEDS Roles.

PEARLS Healthcare Debriefing Tool – This tool provides a template for conducting an effective debrief that can be used for simulation, in-situ or critical events analysis.
