Dr. Patel is the Director of Engineering at CSTAR, a Scientist at London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute, and Distinguished Professor at Western University in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with a cross appointment in the Department of Surgery at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. He has published over 320 papers in refereed journals and conferences and co-authored a textbook and seven research monographs in the areas of robotics (including medical and surgical robotics), haptics, systems and control, artificial neural networks and mechatronics.
