Patient Intake Process for Sarcoma Patients Referred to LRCP

If patient has been treated at another cancer centre, details of previous radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy records should be obtained.

Referral to Centre

  1. Request all operating room, pathology reports for primary tumor (current or previous).
  2. Transfer referral and diagnostic data to Assistant Supervisor for triage.
  3. Enough diagnostic data to make appointment? 
  4. If yes: Appointment given Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist, Surgical Oncologist or combination. Rest of information (xrays, scans) ordered at this time.
  5. Send letter of confirmation and Information for New Patients pamphlet to patients (time permitting).

Enough diagnostic data to make appointment? If no:

  • Obtain additional data as directed by triaging physician/assistant supervisor, for example: CT, MRI imaging reports. Referring office may be asked to arrange further scans, x-rays, if necessary.
  • Enough diagnostic data to make appointment? If yes: Continue from step 4 above.
  • If no: continue with obtaining additional data as directed by triaging physician/assistant supervisor until yes.
