Graduated in 1979 from the University of Ottawa with a MD.  I received my fellowship in Internal Medicine in 1984 and Certificate in Special Competence in Medical Oncology in 1986.  After completing a two-year NCIC fellowship in basic research at McGill University, I joined the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre as a clinician/scientist in 1987.   In the early 1990s, I became the Medical Coordinator of the Ontario Breast Screening Program – Eastern Ontario and Cancer Care Ontario Region – Eastern Ontario, and the Head of Community Oncology, Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre. I established nine community chemotherapy clinics; a coordinated system for cancer patients in Eastern Ontario; a coordinated Palliative Care in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario; led the increase in recruitment of women to the OBSP program from 5,000 women per year to over 30,000 women per year; and worked with Statistics Canada in development of a population health model for breast cancer patients as well as assessing the impact of Tamoxifen therapy as a preventative agent for breast cancer.  In September 2003, I was appointed as the Senior Medical Director, Oncology Clinical Business Unit, LHSC. My areas of research are lung cancer and Kaposi’s Sarcoma in HIV-infected patients.
