The London Health Sciences Centre Board of Directors currently seeks to elect new Directors and appoint community members to Board committees.

As one of Canada’s largest acute care teaching hospitals and largest employer in the region, London Health Sciences Centre has been at the forefront of medicine in Canada for 146 years and offers the broadest range of specialized clinical services in Ontario. Building on the traditions of its founding hospitals to provide compassionate care in an academic teaching setting, London Health Sciences Centre is home to Children’s Hospital, University Hospital, Victoria Hospital, the Kidney Care Centre, two family medical centres, and two research institutes – Children’s Health Research Institute and London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute.

As a leader in medical discovery and health research, LHSC has a history of more than 70 international and national firsts and attracts top clinicians and researchers from around the world. Through our affiliation with Western University and more than 30 other educational institutions, we train more than 1,800 medical and health-care professionals annually.

As a regional referral centre, LHSC cares for the most medically complex patients including critically injured adults and children in southwestern Ontario and connecting Regions. The hospital’s nearly 15,000 staff, physicians, students and volunteers provide care for more than one million patient visits a year while working together to shape the future of health.

Based on the current skills mix of the Board, there is a need for both community members and Directors with senior executive experience in the private or public sector, with the knowledge and expertise in high reliability organization and operating in a fast-changing environment as well as a passion for healthcare.

Additionally, a priority for our organization would be individuals who have experience in quality improvement, Lean mechanisms, information technology, health care research, innovation and academia. Ideal candidates would be residents or have a strong connection to the geographic region that LHSC and Children’s Hospital serve. Regardless of the professional competencies, we seek experienced Board and community members who have held or hold board positions in either the private and public sectors.

We have a strong desire to have our Board closely reflect the diverse populations served by the hospital.  As a result, we welcome applications from women, racially visible individuals, people with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ2S+ persons and bilingual or multilingual individuals. We are committed to providing persons with disabilities with equal opportunities and standards of goods and services, and we are fully compliant with applicable provincial Disabilities Acts.

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter and resume or bio to the Board Liaison Officer by emailing Lisa.Shanahan@lhsc.on.ca
