Quality Improvement Plan

Quality at LHSC

London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is one of Canada’s largest research-intensive acute care teaching hospitals. In 2010, legislation was introduced under the Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) that requires the Board of Directors at all Ontario health-care organizations to demonstrate accountability for quality and safety through the development of an annual Quality Improvement Plan. This plan is submitted to Ontario Health and includes an executive compensation component to ensure accountability for improvement.

Why is quality improvement important?

To ensure we are always improving the quality and safety of the services we provide, LHSC continuously implements evidence-based changes to the way we work. This allows us to fulfill our commitment to better health care for our patients and their families.

What is a Quality Improvement Plan?

The Quality Improvement Plan outlines a set of commitments to patients, clients, staff, physicians, and the community to improve quality through targets and focused actions. Each year LHSC commits to improving in key areas identified in our QIP.
