Clindamycin
Indication
- Treatment of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and some gram-positive cocci
Dosage Guidelines

Greater than 2 kg | 5–7.5 mg/kg/dose IV q6h |
Administration
- IV intermittent slow infusion over 30 minutes
- To make 10 mL of a 12 mg/mL solution:
- Draw up 0.8 mL of the 150 mg/mL solution
- Add to 9.2 mL D5W to make a total volume of 10 mL
Adverse Effects
- Diarrhea, colitis, rash
- Neutropenia, thrombocytopenia
- Increased liver function tests (transient)
- Hypotension and cardiopulmonary arrest with rapid IV administration
Comments
- Poor CNS penetration, not to be used in meningitis
