Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities Policy
Visiting LHSC with a Service Animal

LHSC recognizes the important role service animals play in supporting people with disabilities and welcomes service animals where permitted by law.
Some areas may have restrictions for safety or infection prevention reasons.

If your service animal will accompany you to an appointment or hospital stay, please let your care team know as early as possible so we can support your visit.

To help ensure a safe environment for everyone, service animals should:

  • Be clearly identified.
  • Remain under the owner's supervision and control.
  • Have their care needs met by the owner or a designated support person.

Questions about service animal access can be directed to the Equity and Social Accountability Office via email at inclusionsocialaccountability@lhsc.on.ca.
