(LONDON, Ontario) – London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has successfully performed an advanced aortic procedure using the Artivion E-nsideTM aortic stent-graft, a device used for the first time in North America, significantly improving patient outcome and recovery.
LHSC’s vascular surgery team recently received approval through Health Canada’s physician-request special access program to use a device currently only approved for use in Europe, to successfully repair a life-threatening aortic dissection and aortic aneurysm. By using an off-the-shelf, non-custom configuration the wait time for the procedure was reduced and the patient’s recovery time was reduced to only a matter of weeks.
Media are invited to schedule an in-person interview on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to speak with the vascular surgeons who performed the procedure, Drs. John Landau and Luc Dubois, along with the patient, Jeff Pitman.
During the media availability, Dr. Landau and Dr. Dubois will provide 3D renderings of Pitman’s pre and post-operative CT scans to demonstrate the success of the procedure and a sample of the E-nsideTM stent-graft device.
