Baby's Tests

Your baby will have a blood test called The Newborn Screening taken before they goes home. This is a small amount of blood taken from your baby's heel that goes to a laboratory in Ottawa where the testing is done. Many diseases are included in this screening test. Babies who have these diseases initially appear well but require treatment soon after birth. Results from the tests go to your family doctor and they will provide you with additional information if you require it.
