Further to our earlier statement London Health Sciences Centre remains deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of Dr. Tarek Loubani, an emergency department physician at our hospital, and his colleague John Greyson, a York University professor. These two individuals have been detained in Egypt and held without charge for nearly two weeks.
We were disappointed to learn that the hearing scheduled for yesterday did not occur and we urge the Government of Canada to continue their efforts to secure the immediate release of Dr. Loubani and Professor Greyson.
On behalf of LHSC, I am joining many of Dr. Loubani’s concerned colleagues, friends and family in urging the Egyptian authorities to quickly resolve this issue and allow for their safe return to Canada.
