2005 World Transplant Games

The City of London hosted the 15th World Transplant Games from July 16-24, 2005. More than 1,000 organ recipients from 48 countries participated in athletic events during nine days. Endorsed by the International Olympic Committee, organ recipients compete at a very high level. The Games highlight the success of transplantation, and draw attention to the shortage of organs for transplant. It is the world's largest event promoting greater awareness about organ donation.
