South West Ontario Region
The south west region of Ontario has seen steady growth over the past decade. In 2011, just over 925,000 people called the region home. Today, almost 1.25 million people live in the area. This represents a 35 per cent increase over 14 years, showing a vibrant and expanding community. With more people, and an aging population, it is important that services also expand and improve to continue to deliver high quality, effective care for the best possible health outcomes for everyone, when and where they need it.

 | 22,530 self-identifying people of Indigenous descent live in the southwest region, representing 2% of the population. |
 | In 2022, census data suggested that London is Ontario’s fastest growing city and the fourth fastest growing city in Canada. In 2024, London area hit a population milestone, surpassing 608,000 residents. |

Verspeeten Activity
The London Regional Cancer Program was renamed the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre in April 2024.
