Radiation Therapy Pathway Graphic Breakdown

In the graphic above, the phases of the radiation therapy pathway are as follows:

Planning Appointment:

  • CT simulation appointment: CT images are used to plan where and how radiation will be given.
  • Mould Room appointment: Staff create outlines and accessories to plan where and how radiation will be given.

*Please note that patients may only have one planning appointment, either CT Simulation or Mould Room.

Treatment:

  • Radiation is delivered from outside the body by two radiation therapists.

Patient Review Clinic:

  • You will meet with your care team during treatment to discuss side effects and concerns. You will be given information about how to manage your symptoms and side effects.

Recovery & Follow-up:

  • A plan will be discussed with your radiation oncologist for follow-up instructions after all radiation treatments are complete.
