
Radiation Therapy Pathway Graphic Breakdown
In the graphic above, the phases of the radiation therapy pathway are as follows:
Planning Appointment:
- CT simulation appointment: CT images are used to plan where and how radiation will be given.
- Mould Room appointment: Staff create outlines and accessories to plan where and how radiation will be given.
*Please note that patients may only have one planning appointment, either CT Simulation or Mould Room.
Treatment:
- Radiation is delivered from outside the body by two radiation therapists.
Patient Review Clinic:
- You will meet with your care team during treatment to discuss side effects and concerns. You will be given information about how to manage your symptoms and side effects.
Recovery & Follow-up:
- A plan will be discussed with your radiation oncologist for follow-up instructions after all radiation treatments are complete.
