Each summer, LHSC proudly stands with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by celebrating Pride Month in June and taking part in the Pride London Festival in July. This year, we’re thrilled to join the celebrations once again and highlight the spirit of inclusion that lives within LHSC.
Now – and every day – is the time to come together in solidarity with our 2SLGBTQIA+ colleagues, patients, and their loved ones, and show that LHSC is a place where everyone can feel seen, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves.
The LHSC Pride Committee has put together a variety of opportunities for you to get involved and show your support over the coming weeks. Here’s how you can join in and celebrate Pride with us:
- Progress Pride Flag Ceremony – LHSC Pride celebrations will officially begin with the raising of the Progress Pride flag on Monday, June 9. The ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. at University Hospital’s main entrance and continue at 1:00 p.m. at Victoria Hospital’s B entrance. Please join us to raise the Progress Pride flag, sign our LHSC Pride banner and celebrate with music and food trucks, which will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at both locations.
- Caring with Pride Q&A Panel – On July 10 the LHSC Pride Committee will be hosting a question-and-answer panel in Victoria Hospital and Children’s Hospital’s Sumner Auditorium (B2-119) from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Team LHSC is invited to learn about the historical and ongoing challenges that 2SLGBTQIA+ communities face in receiving care and how we can better support our colleagues and patients. Panel members will include staff with lived experience, community organizations that support and celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community year-round, and colleagues from the Gender Pathways Service. This event will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in-person. More details about this event will be shared closer to the date.
- Pride Parade – Join us at the London Pride Parade on July 20 to show the community that Team LHSC is vibrant, energetic, and committed to supporting the community. Come show your support and stand with us, as we spread joy, positivity and love throughout the city. More details about this event will be shared closer to the date.
- LHSC Pride Merchandise – Team LHSC Pride t-shirts and other Pride-themed merchandise can be purchased at our Progress Pride flag-raising events. Items will be available for purchase directly through our online store after June 9. There is limited stock available, so be sure to get yours as soon as possible.
- Pride-themed LHSC 150 Logo – Show your pride this year by using the pride-themed LHSC 150 logo in your email signature. You can download the logo from the Brand and Digital Strategy SharePoint site.
